Gardenal Syrup contains Phenobarbitone Syrup. Phenobarbitone is a barbiturate antiepileptic medicine that works by enhancing GABA activity in brain which calms abnormal electrical activity. It is used for treatment and prevention of epilepsy, seizures, convulsions and status epilepticus. It helps to control fits and prevents recurrence of seizures by stabilizing brain activity. It is also used as a sedative and anticonvulsant. It should be taken regularly as prescribed by physician and should not be stopped abruptly. Dosage should be taken as directed by physician
